If you look back at the career of Jude Law, you’d notice that a great actor has found himself in many stable, and sane roles throughout his time on the big screen. Make no mistake, Law is one talented thespian, but also predictable with whatever film he chooses to take part in, usually playing the pretty lover or the exasperated friend.

But in Dom Hemingway, Law is finally letting loose. And it looks damn fun.

Jude Law plays DOM HEMINGWAY, a larger-than-life safecracker with a loose fuse who is funny, profane, and dangerous. After twelve years in prison, he sets off with his partner in crime Dickie (Richard E. Grant) looking to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut and protecting his boss Mr. Fontaine (Demian Birchir). After a near death experience, Dom tries to re-connect with his estranged daughter (Emilia Clarke), but is soon drawn back into the only world he knows, looking to settle the ultimate debt.

Well that was a fun trailer. Law looks like he’s having a blast as the unhinged criminal, and having Richard E. Grant in his corner points to some good casting. Reception to the film has been mixed so far though, with critics saying that it takes a sharp turn in atmospher once it crosses the halfway mark, At the very least though, Law’s performance has been praised, so this could still be a film to keep an eye out on. Dom Hemingway is out in the UK already, but we’ll most likely only see it next year.
