The first trailer for Room already sold me 100%, but apparently the universe thought I still needed more convincing. Director Lenny “Frank” Abrahamson’s adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s acclaimed novel made its debut at the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend past, and has just been racking up the accolades.
Most of the praise is being heaped on the pairing of Brie Larson and newcomer Jacob Tremblay as a mother and son duo who spend five years living inside a small room after the young mother is kidnapped by an unknown assailant while she is still pregnant. Larson has always been a great actress, but apparently she’s turning in career-best dramatic work here, while Tremblay is just a revelation in the role of the boy who has never seen the outside world. Some are even predicting some new gold- and silverware in their near future.
And with the awards buzz buzzing strong, a new trailer for Room has been released which shows off a whole lot of those dramatic chops from the two leads. Check it out below.
Room also stars Joan Allen and William H. Macy. It is scheduled for limited international release on October 16, but we’ll have to wait until March 2016 to see it locally.
