JURASSIC WORLD sets record for fastest film to reach $1 Billion worldwide

Original movies, are officially dead. These days, the real money-makers are sequels and reboots. Films such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Furious 7 have crossed on over to an elite club, where only the movies that make a billion dollars or more at the box office are allowed.

And now, Jurassic World is joining that club. Albeit at a ridiculously quick pace, according to Deadline.

That’s because in just 13 days, Jurassic World grossed over $1 billion, beating the previous record set by Furious 7, which managed the feat in 17 days. That speaks volumes for the film, which may not have enjoyed solid critical acclaim, but was a hit with audiences worldwide.

And that word of mouth, is an effective tool when coupled with social media. Thanks to some string nostalgia, solid action beats and people having forgotten about the last two godawful Jurassic Park movies, Jurassic Park is one of the biggest grossing movies of 2015…And it’s only June.

But come December, there may be a disturbance in the Force…

  1. I am yet to watch this, but I’m not entirely convinced about it. A few things I saw in the trailers just seem a bit silly to me.

My friends enjoyed it, for me it was meh… except for Bryce Dallas Howard’s impresive high heels running.

I’m not hyped up for it though, which may count in my favour. Either way, it can only be better than Jurassic Park 2 and 3

I liked it. And unlike most films nowadays, the best parts are not in the trailers.

Well that’s definitely good to hear.
The raptors thing in the header (terrible inaccuracies aside) is making me a bit curious and hesitant. But there does seem to be a load of cool stuff in it and I can always go play ARK afterwards and tame my own dinos 😀

It’s great fun. Has its faults, but overall a real good dinosaur romp.

No movie is without its faults. Looking forward to giving it a watch either way. The dino rage is back and I’m loving it.
