Despite my overwhelming love for both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, I somehow haven’t got as excited as I probably should for X-Men: Apocalypse. Admittedly, this is mainly because I keep expecting Oscar Isaac’s take on the titular mutant villain to be closer to the one we got in the classic 90’s X-Men animated series, and it really isn’t.

That being said, the rest of this film looks simply geektastic! Especially in this new Superbowl trailer which is going to explode fanboy pants all around the world with some really amazing action! It looks like franchise director Bryan Singer is really delivering on his promise of this being the biggest X-Men movie yet!

Check it out below!

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

PSYLOCKE!!!! PHWOAR!!!! (If you’re as stoked as I am at seeing Olivia Munn finally bringing this fan-favourite character to life on the big screen, then check back with us later for another piece focused solely on her).

X-Men: Apocalypse also stars James McAvoy as Charles Xaver, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok and newcomers Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Lana Condor as Jubilee. The mutants go to war on our screens on May 27, 2016.
