I really, really love The Lonely Island (No homo!). The parody pop band of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer first really hit it big with their SNL Digital Shorts like “Threw It On the Ground”, “Mother’s Day” and who can can forget that classic romantic ditty “Dick in a Box”.

The trio of funnymen have previously dabbled in feature films though when they wrote, directed and starred in 2007’s Hot Rod. The film may have had a lukewarm reception, but The Lonely Island are such talented comedians that I was still excited for their next feature film project. A feature film that up until most recently had been kept completely under wraps and was only known as Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie. Yes, how on the nose.

The title and poster seemingly confirm what had been previously reported that that film “takes aim on the fluffy music documentaries of recent years such as Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never and Katy Perry’s Part of Me. It centers on a rapper whose latest album bombs and he must do the unthinkable: a reunion concert with his former boy band.”

The film is being produced by Judd Apatow and also stars Sarah Silverman, Imogen Poots, and Tim Meadows, and will already be good for release on June 3. If you’re a Lonely Island fan, then I guess there’s only one appropriate response:
