If any of you out there were like me growing up, then to you Jean Claude Van Damme was the man! After seeing him doing the splits and punching a guy in the manlies on Bloodsport I was sold!

Van Damme went on to make some of my favorite action movies, like Hard Target, Time Cop and Double Impact but one of his most popular adventures was that of Kurt Sloane in 1989’s Kickboxer.

That movie has gone on to spawn plenty of sequels but Van Damme has never returned to the franchise… until now that is. The Muscles from Brussels started getting back into the spotlight recently with an ad for Volvo that went viral, and made it back on our big screens with his performance in The Expendable 2.

Capitalizing on the popularity of all the remakes and reboots being produced over recent years, Van Damme is back in Kickboxer: Vengeance.

This will basically be a reboot of the original movie, with the exception of Van Damme playing the part of mentor to the movie’s hero, played by Alain Moussi, who travels to Thailand where he must learn the secrets of the kickboxer to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Tong Po (Dave Bautista). The movie also features performances from the lovely Gina Carano and Georges St. Pierre and so far it looks bloody brilliant!

Check out the really quick and powerful teaser trailer below:

Am I the only one that is excited to see this movie yet? What did you think of the first look at the movie? There is currently no release date set but I am sure there will be more footage and details to come soon.
