Maisie Williams to guest star in DOCTOR WHO

I think we can all agree that the eigth series of Doctor Who felt like a fresh new take on the Time Lord mythology that had defined the show for five decades. Love or hate it, but Doctor Who was incredibly experimental with its episodes in series 8, giving new Doctor Peter Capaldi the energy needed to not only carry the show, but to craft a new Time Lord in the process.

Doctor Who returns later this year, and as usual it’ll feature plenty of guest stars. Guest stars such as Game Of Thrones actress Maisie “Arye Stark” Williams. While her role has yet to be revealed for series 9, showrunner/lead writer/executive producer Steven Moffat said:

Maise Williams

We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.

Two more story details have also been released by the BBC for the upcoming season. The first is The Girl Who Died, which is written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat, as well as The Woman Who Lived by Catherine Tregenna. Ed “Poldark” Bazalgette will direct the episodes.

Other actors joining the show this year include Rufus Hound, Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce, and Struan Rodger. I’m digging Capaldi in the role of the Doctor so far. He owned the character from the minute he was introduced, and seeing a more seasoned and vulnerable Doctor has been all kinds of kickass.

That, and Michelle “Missy” Gomez is returning. Oh Missy, you so fine you so fine you disintegrate my mind with a laser screwdriver! Hey Missy! Hey Missy!

  1. I really enjoy Capaldi, but I miss the crazy Tardis travelling, pulling knobs, hitting it with a hammer. I thought more of that would happen when Capaldi’s first words were “do you know how to fly this thing”.. Just pulling the lever or pushing your hands into the psychic goo is boring 🙂
