Are you still drooling over Kit Harrington’s newfound ripped physique that was shown off in that first pic from Resident Evil franchise helmer Paul WS Anderson’s Pompeii the other day? Well you’ll be happy to know that you can now you get to see all six of those packs in action in this first trailer for the disaster/love story.

It’s not all just washboard abs eye candy though, because what would a Paul WS Anderson be without flashy visuals, a pounding soundtrack, slow-motion fight sequences and a gigantic exploding mountain that wipes out an entire city in a conflagration of flame and ash. Okay, so maybe that last one is new, but it’s all to be found after the jump.

The film follows an enslaved Celtic gladiator who falls in love with a noblewoman on the eve of a massive volcanic eruption that destroys Pompeii, an event that also brings him face-to-face with the man who slaughtered his family years earlier.

Paul WS Anderson’s movies haven’t been high on my list of must-see’s in ages, ever since they devolved into nothing more than big budget bragging sessions, as he finds new ways to show off how hot his wife, Milla Jovovich, looks in bondage gear, all in super slow-mo 3D. So with that, I wasn’t paying too much attention to this, however this doesn’t look too bad. Well at least in trailer form, that is. Anderson’s films tend to be more music video than film, so I won’t get my hopes up too high.

Also, probably because of me not paying attention, it somehow slipped my notice that Jared Harris, Kiefer Sutherland and Carrie-Anne Moss (I was wondering what she had been up to lately) are all also starring in this. Moriarty, Jack Bauer and Trinity in a movie with Jon Snow? Yeah, I’m starting to be intrigued just a little bit.

Pompeii will be blowin’ on up, son, on February 21, 2014.
