The weekend box office had only two notable additions over that period, with Dreamworks and their third Madagascar flick going head to chestburster with Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
Of course, only one of those films could claim the top spot, and that winner was:
- Madagascar 3 – $60.3 Million
- Prometheus – $50 Million
- Snow White and the Huntsman – $23 Million
- MIB 3 – $13.5 Million
- The Avengers – $10.8 Million
- The best exotic Marigold Hotel – $3.2 Million
- What to expect when you’re expecting – $2.7 Million
- Battleship – $2.2 Million
- The Dictator – $2.1 Million
- Moonrise Kingdom – $1.5 Million
The Dictator and Battleship saw big drops this week, dropping several rungs down the ladder into the eight and ninth spots respectively. Wes Anderson’s latest flick, Moonrise Kingdom, managed to claw its way from 13 to 10 this week, while The Hunger Games finally dropped out of the top ten, after 12 weeks which saw the film gross over $400 million.
