This past weekend saw several new entries on the US box office charts. Seth MacFarlanes foul-mouthed childhood toy arrived, alongside several male strippers in Magic Mike and Tyler Perry in drag once more.

Here’s a look at who made what, so read it now before we layeth an attitude adjustment slap on your face. Oh lerd!

Ted Bear reigned supreme this week, handily defeating Channing Tatum and his bottle of love oils, while Brave dropped to third place, just ahead of Tyler Perry and his latest attempt at comedy.

The Avengers finally bowed out of the top ten, after nine weeks of snappy comebacks and fisticuffs, taking MIB 3 and Rock of Ages with it. As for everyone else, here’s a peek at the American cash generated:

  • Ted Bear – $54.1 Million
  • Magic Mike – $39.1 Million
  • Brave – $34 Million
  • Madea’s Witness Protection – $26.3 Million
  • Madagascar 3 – $11.8 Million
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – $6 Million
  • Prometheus – $4.9 Million
  • Moonrise Kingdom – $4.8 Million
  • Snow White and the Huntsman – $4.4 Million
  • People like us – $4.3 Million

Interestingly enough, the top films at this time, five years ago, was another Pixar movie, Ratoutille, while rewinding back 20 years would reveal that a certain Dark Knight was riding high at the box office, in Batman Returns.

Going even further, to 15 years ago, and Timothy Dalton was chewing grit and spitting out intensity in his James Bond debut, The Living Daylights. And with a new Bond, and Batman film on the way, history will most likely repeat itself soon again.
