The dead one from Monty Python finally gets a doccie, in A LIARS AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Ah Monty Python. That irreverent British comedy show that inspired numerous varsity students over several decades to adopt silly walks, write a killer joke and shout “NI” at the worst possible time. It’s hard to believe, but the all the original Pythons are still alive, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, John Cleese and Carol Cleveland (She’s totally a Python in my book). All except for Graham Chapman that is, who died back in 1989 from cancer. There’s always been a very scarce amount of info on the parrot sketch co-author, until now, as one bizarrely animated documentary looks to tell some sort of story about him.

Based on Chapman’s book, A Liar’s Autobiography: Volume VI, the documentary will actually contain some narration from the deceased Python, thanks to sme archive material.

Plus, dead people are cheap to hire for this kind of thing. Former Pythons John Cleese, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin have all contributed to the doccie, which combines several forms of animation to create something that would actually suit the comic genius of Chapman perfectly.

It really is mental, as you can see for yourself in the trailer below, courtesy of Twitch;

Graham Chapman, probably best remembered as ‘the dead one from Monty Python’, writes and stars in the animated movie of his own life story, A Liar’s Autobiography. He was born, he went to Cambridge and met John Cleese, he smoked a pipe, he became a doctor, he became a Python, he decided he was gay (well, 70/30, according to a survey he did on himself), he got drunk a lot, he stopped being drunk, he made some films, he had some sex (actually, a lot), and moved to Los Angeles. Finally, he was whisked up into space by aliens (although that might have been in a film).

Featuring recordings of Chapman that he made of his book in 1982 and matched with recorded sound from present, the film reunites members of the Monty Python troupe and brings Chapman back to life in a tour de force of animation through 17 different animation styles from 15 different animators.

There’s no solid release date for this unhinged look at Bomber Harris, but it’s shot to the top of my to-watch list right now, after viewing that mad, mad trailer.

    You, it’s only with that photo for the article on the main page that I noticed how much Graham Chapman looked like a bat-shit insane Mark Zuckerberg.
