It’s not yet graced the small screen, but it seems that Netflix is excited enough by the small-screen adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels to renew it for a second season.

The Witcher will make its debut on Netflix on December 20 in an eight-episode run, but will begin production of the second run of eight episodes in London early next year.

The news comes directly from The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich, who took to twitter to announce the news.

“I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures… in Season Two.

I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us.”

“The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.”

Remember, the Witcher will hit Netflix on December 20.

This isn’t all that surprising. The real test will be to see if it goes beyond three seasons. Netflix have indicated that’s generally the point where they see new subs aren’t attracted to originals, so if the show’s expensive & the viewer numbers then aren’t that high… off with your head.

Bloody hell…I don’t think Cavil is capable of keeping someone’s attention beyond one episode.Nevermind an entire season or 2.Sorry but he’s just a poor actor imo.

TBH I thought Armie Hammer might’ve worked well starring in Witcher.

He was also in The Man from U.N.C.L.E with Henry Cavill, a very underrated movie.

Damnit that movie was fun, especially at a time James Bond was taking himself way too seriously

I don’t really have an issue with Cavil. He was decent in the Tudors, and I didn’t hate him as superman, but yeah.. when I heard he was in the running to be the Witcher, I spat out my coffee, and felt like defenestrating myself.

In hindsight, Brandon Routh was the superior non-Christopher Reeves Superman. 😀

He’s brings in some numbers though, I know my missus had no interest in The Witcher other than it made me happy, now Cavills in it and all of a sudden she’s reading Polish folklore.

Eh, Batwoman is apparently earmarked for a second season, and that poor thing has been literally hemorrhaging viewers since day one. I can’t even hate-watch it any more. It’s just so unbelievably dumb.

The proof will be in whether Witcher reaches a third season or not.

Sadly, some of my favourite shows never made it past season 2 🙁

    Happy!
    Dirk Gently… 🙁
