We should probably be expecting the official release of the Deadpool trailer any day now. After star Ryan Reynolds and crew brought the house down at Comic-Con with the first look at the long-awaited comic book movie, a low-quality bootlegged copy of the trailer found its way online (big surprise!). Reynolds guaranteed fans that if they wanted to see a proper version of the trailer that didn’t look it was recorded on a Nokia 3310 underwater, during an earthquake, they wouldn’t have long to wait as the director Tim Miller and co would just need about 3 weeks to get the film’s VFX up to scratch.

Well, it’s nearly been 3 weeks and no trailer yet, but luckily Empire is here to tide you over with a handful of new images for the film, one of which gives us our first glimpse at Reynolds’ Wade Wilson before he undergoes the experimental procedure that gives him his abilities, but leaves his body a scarred, revolting mess.

Also in the pics are Morena Bacarin as Deadpool love interest Copycat, and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as the Merc With the Mouth’s telepathic sidekick Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Man, Reynolds’ costume still looks absolutely incredible, and I cannot wait to see it in action!

Besides for the pics, IGN have also sat down with ex-MMA superstar Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast & Furious 6) and Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones, Transporter: Refueled), who spilled the beans on their two villainous characters, Angel Dust and Ajax, with Carano explaining how they fit into the story:

“The program that we run is very similar to Weapon X [the program that created Wolverine], in that we take terminally-ill soldiers and we give them superpowers. Ajax and Angel Dust went through that process themselves and now we run the program and we’re the people that changed Wade Wilson into Deadpool.”

Carano also elaborated on the relationship between her Angel Dust – who has the ability to manually increase her adrenaline – and Skrein’s Ajax – who boasts enhanced, strength, speed, agility and elevated pain threshold:

“We decided Ajax kind of found her. Angel Dust will only listen to Ajax. I’m like a horse rearing to go and he pretty much has the reins.”

Skrein added that there’s an intentional ambiguity to their relationship:

“We really wanted people to not know whether we were Brother and Sister, lovers, whether it is a teacher-pupil situation almost like a pimp and prostitute situation, for want of a better word.”

Here’s the full video interview:

Deadpool was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) and is scheduled for release on February 12, 2016.
