We’ve been receiving lots of updates on the upcoming new Marvel movie, Captain America: Civil War (which you can catch up on here)and so far all the trailers and news that we have been shown are really getting me excited for this movie. And now, to whet your appetite even further, we have some exciting new shots from the movie, along with some details on the character that Martin Freeman (The Hobbit films) will be playing and where that fits into the story-line.

Freeman will be taking on the character of Evert Ross (no relation to William Hurt’s General Ross) a member of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre in the film.  Ross also served as an ambassador to Wakanda in the original comic series, so Marvel is being consistent here with the character.

On his role, Freeman had the following to say:

“He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another. It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad. I like that area that isn’t black or white, I like the grays, because I think there’s just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line.”

For those who spent way too much time baked in the sun over the summer and somehow managed to miss the story so far revealed in the various trailers and news, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Captain America: Civil War will be hitting theaters on May 6, 2016. Personally, I can’t wait. New pictures on the movie can also be seen below (note – the quality of some of these photos is not fantastic, but we’re sure you don’t care and are just keen to see more anyway):
