New videos, images and concept art for Marvel's Phase Two including THOR 2, CAPTAIN AMERICA 2, ANT MAN and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

We’re exactly a month away from Tony Stark’s battle with Pimp Ghandi kicking off Marvel’s Phase Two, the studio’s second wave of superhero cinematic projects that will be busting some blocks over the next couple years as we build up to The Avengers 2. Thus far our only glimpses of this second phase have been Iron Man 3 trailers and the leaked (and very quickly removed) Ant-Man test footage.

But as reported yesterday, Marvel have now finally released their geektastic Phase One boxset and it includes a heroic amount of swag including video and pics of what’s to come. And now you can check them out here.

We’ll kick things off with this video that introduces and hypes up Phase Two, serving as a nice introduction for the titles to come.

Along with this video there are a number of newly released images that show everything from exactly how much everybody’s favourite thunder god hates cars in Thor: The Dark World, to some shots of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man test footage for those of you who weren’t quick enough to check it out before it got pulled.

While these are good, the really stuff cool though are concept art images for the films that we’ve currently seen nothing from so far: Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

For Captain America, we have some of our first looks at the designs of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon as well as a pair of different versions of the costume for Sebastian Stan’s cyborg-armed titular Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, Cap’s old sidekick who was last seen being exploded off a train in Germany back in WWII.

For Guardians of the Galaxy we get concept art that that shows off some of the characters as well as shots of spaceships and alien cityscapes that should give you an idea of the heavier sci-fi leanings of the movie.

I have to say that I’m liking those designs for both the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The red, semi-transparent wings that Falcon uses in the comics would always have been a tough sell in real life, so I can totally understand why they’re going for the metallic wings, though I’m guessing that in reality they won’t be quite as shiny as that. As for Winter Soldier, I wouldn’t be surprised if both those looks showed up in the film. Unlike in the comics where Bucky “died” as a young boy and came back as a fully grown man, in the movies there wouldn’t be that much of a physical difference (well except for his new cybernetic arm), which means that Cap would recognize him immediately. So I’m guessing that he’ll first show up sporting the dark coat and mask to hide his identity before dropping them for his more classic look that can be seen in the pic at the top of the page.

I’m really liking what I’m seeing thus far from Marvel’s Phase Two and can’t wait for it get underway with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013.

finally got to see the ant-man test footage, nice! this next phase is looking pretty awesome at the moment. Falcon and The Winter Soldier look believable and the art work for Guardians of the Galaxy looks intriguing. Cannot wait!
