No balls, no deal! Check out Matthew McConaughey in this first trailer for GOLD!

The McConaissance is still going strong! And Matthew McConaughey’s latest bit of thespian rebuttal for doubting his talents for so many years is Gold, a brand new true-story drama that marks the first return behind the camera in over a decade for Oscar winning director Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Traffic). And for his return the acclaimed filmmaker has McConaughey pulling a page out of Christian Bale’s American Hustle book by frumping himself up complete with a tragically balding pate.

Not that attention-grabbing make-up effects are all that this movie appears to offer though, as the first trailer for the film paints us a rather cool and intriguing tale of one desperate man’s rise to power on the back of an impossible gold find, and how it got him involved with all the wrong people. Also tigers. There are tigers involved. It’s just that kind of crazy story, and Gaghan has assembled a powerhouse collection of acting talents to pull it all off.

Check out the trailer below.

GOLD is the epic tale of one man’s pursuit of the American dream, to discover gold.  Starring Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, a prospector desperate for a lucky break, he teams up with a similarly eager geologist and sets off on an amazing journey to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.   Getting the gold was hard, but keeping it would be even harder, sparking an adventure through the most powerful boardrooms of Wall Street. The film is inspired by a true story.

Gold also stars Edgar Ramirez, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Kebbell, Corey Stoll, Macon Blair, Stacy Keach and Bruce Greenwood. It is scheduled for release in the US on December 25, 2016.
