The last time director Steven Spielberg and actor/producer Tom Hanks teamed up together we got the two brilliant World War II miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Now the two Hollywood legends are teaming up again, except this time the war is kind of cold (as in the Cold War, get it Nick?). That doesn’t mean that the result, the based on a true story Bridge of Spies, doesn’t look pretty hot though, as this first trailer shows us a crackling real-world spy and courtroom drama all rolled up into one.
If that wasn’t enough incentive to watch Spielberg’s first movie since 2012’s Lincoln, then note that the script was written by three-time Oscar-winning filmmaking duo Ethan and Joel Coen (The Great Lebowski, Fargo, No Country For Old Men). Check out the trailer below.
A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan (Hanks), a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.
Bridge of Spies also stars Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan and Alan Alda. It is scheduled for release on October 16, 2015.
