None of us have ever faced a trailer for GODZILLA like this before

For decades now, the king of kaiju has been stomping his way through Asian cities and coming back an hour later for seconds. Godzilla has been a staple part of that cinema landscape for so long now, we’ve kind of forgotten just how terrible a force of nature he really is.

Years back, one such American produced film starring Matthew Broderick attempted to teach that lesson, and it failed miserably. Much later, and with a lesson learnt, Hoolywood is taking a second stab at the big green atomic fire-breather. And the latest teaser is just nailing it so far.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

While it’s not exactly that much different from the first teaser trailer that we saw, this one still sets a great bar with the opening HALO jump, that shows off the scale of Godzilla. This time, he looks like an absolute titan that no mere conventional weaponry can destroy. And he won’t be the only kaiju roaming the world, as the film hints that there are more “mutos” out there.

Godzilla will be stomping cinemas flat next year May 16, and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. Gareth Edwards directs.
