Nothing can prepare you for these first trailers and images for EVEREST

I’ve kind of got a soft spot for mountaineering films. Alive, Cliffhanger and Vertical Limit all hold spots in my DVD shelf, all part of a genre that is about as dangerous to touch as an ascent up the K2 mountains of the Himalayas. That all seems to be changing with Everest however, as that flick won’t only boast one hell of a strong cast, but some gorgeous IMAX effects as well. Check it out in the first trailers and images below:

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.  Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

Damn, looks like I might be popping my IMAX cherry a little sooner than I thought. Everest stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Emily Watson, and Keira Knightley. It’ll be making for base camp on September 18.
