Official logo for Superman: Man of Steel revealed

The big blue boy scout is once again returning to screens next year, rebooting the franchise after the snoozefest that was Superman Returns back in 2006.

Zack “300” Snyder is busy helming a fresh look at the iconic super-hero, alongside Christopher Nolan who is handling production duties for Man of Steel, and so far, details on the film are tighter than those leather pants I used to wear when I performed in a Loverboy tribute band.

But one new detail has been released on the official Facebook page, giving eager fans a glimpse into the official logo for the new franchise.

I don’t know about you, but I quite like. It’s edgy, modern and alien, yet it somehow still ties in perfectly with the symbol that Christopher Reeve wore on his chest back in 1978.

What do you think?

Jeez, they are really feeding us drip by drip on this one, hey. Granted, it is a film that’s only
going to drop in 2013. I expect that by the end of the year, we’ll see a teaser and before year’s end
    a full trailer.

Until I hear anything of real substance, I’m worried due to Snyder’s involvement, and reassured by Nolan’s

Pre Sucker Punch I would still have had some hope for Snyder. But after seeing that SFX wankathon, I am very reticent about this one.

It’s Nolan though, and I think the reason he went for Snyder is that he understands the appeal of Superman. Batman is dark and it’s as much about the smarts Batman has as it is the spectacle, if not more the smarts than the spectacle.

But with Superman, spectacle is the absolute appeal of the character and his story. Yeah, you need solid storytelling and good characters and actors but spectacle is the genuine seller for Superman and I think in that regard, Nolan made a good choice with Snyder.

And Nolan’s a smart fucker, too. I’ve no doubt that he’s absolutely aware of Snyder’s shortcomings in Story/Character departments and he’ll no doubt be looking over Snyder’s shoulder in the editing suite, advising/ ordering him on certain aspects. Nolan doesn’t want to put out some sub-par thing that will fade out of mind once you leave the cinema. He wants something that wil stay with you cos then you’re likely to tell your friends and thus, hey, more business.

He’s not about to let Snyder just fuck that up.

Of course, that might all be bullshit, and this will be another in Snyder’s filmography of flashy, stylish but ultimately insubstantial fluff pastries.

Like I said, Nolan is pretty much the only reason I’m interested in this film
