Paid to play games?

It is one of the most common things that I hear from fellow gamers…

They want to know where they can find a job that will pay them to play games, well I found one… Here is the job spec from 2K games… You know the guys who made Bioshock…

  • Play iterative builds, analyze, and report on issues and progress to PD team
  • Maintain close knowledge of development status by checking iterative milestones completion.
  • Support PD team via daily request for file transfers, disc burning, and other tasks.
  • Keep up-to-date on trends in the game industry and entertainment industry.

I could do that…. There is no indication of salary but to apply for the job all you need to do is follow these simple instructions

To be considered for this position, please submit a 500 word game critique of your favorite game along with your resume. The critique should include both positives and negatives about the game, and methods for improving the negatives. Then forward your critique, resume and cover letter to:
Nicole.Payte@take2games.com

If any of you get the job please tell them you saw it here first and I want to play games for a living as well 😉

Ever been forced to play a buggy video game? Ever? Imagine playing a video game in Alpha, Beta, Gamma stage, too. Imagine playing it before it’s great. That is what you’ll be doing. All day. Everyday. Trust me. This is not all rosey 😀 .

agreed, being a game tester is probably the worst job you could have. (They do make it seem pretty cool in Grandma’s Boy :))

It’s not even the fact that you’re playing the buggy versions. It’s the whole thing about gaming becomming “work”. I had a friend who loved games, she started working in the industry and now hardly plays because when she gets home the last thing she wants to see is a console.

Actually, I’d like to maybe work for Ubi… just so I can mack on Jade Raymond 🙂

    Lol. Loving the responses above.

@Pillsbury – I’d rather get paid than paying to play buggy games. F1 2010 and Fallout NV are two good examples 😉
