Paul Bettany will play the Vision in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

When the Avengers was released back in 2012, it did a great job in paying homage to the first few issues of the comic books, setting up Loki as the key antagonist, while Thor, Iron Man and the Hulk formed a team to oppose his plans. With Captain America and others of course.

And the sequel looks set to continue on that path, taking various elements from the comics and making them work in a cinematic sense, because what would the age of Ultron be without a Vision?

Paul Bettany

Paul Bettany, who lent his voice to the J.A.R.V.I.S AI system through the Iron Man trilogy and the Avengers, will be playing the synthetic android in the sequel, Variety reports. Earlier rumours about the J.A.R.V.I.S system evolving into the android seem more solid now, and it looks like Bettany will be a physical presence, as he was spotted at Shepperton studios to get all suited up for a costume test.

The Vision is pretty much a cornerstone of the Avengers. Appearing way back in 1968, he’s been a loyal team member ever since, despite the fact that he happens to be an Ultron creation. The film is shaping up so far to have plenty of new characters. There’s Ultron himself, who will be played by James Spader, while  Thomas Kretschmann will be slipping on a monocle in order to portray Baron Von Strucker.

The sequel drops next year, with Joss Whedon once again directing.

Don’t give a crap about Marvel, but I always thought Paul Bettany deserves better films than he gets. So this is good.
