Back in 2003, Peter Berg was still finding his directorial feet with only one film under his belt in 1998’s Very Bad Things, while Dwayne Johnson, or The Rock as he was referred to more often back then, was only getting into acting. And apart from some major roles in The Scorpion King and The Mummy Returns, few probably even considered his potential to be a big Hollywood actor. Then these two collaborated with The Rundown, and the rest is history. And now The Rock is the biggest star in Hollywood.

While Peter Berg has never quite reached the heights of Johnson in his career, he is still taking big budget films with relative ease (if you are willing to look past Battleship). Despite all this success though, neither of them have forgotten that first film which helped them to both hit the big time. For those who never saw it, the film teamed the Rock up with Sean William Scott as a bounty hunter tasked with tracking down his employer’s trouble-making son (Scott) to get him out of the jungles of Brazil. It wasn’t the best premise for a hit film, but the brand of action and comedy by its two contrasting stars worked wonders with audiences.

And Peter Berg wants to make a sequel. This time teaming The Rock up with another annoying actor to further build the tension. And is looking to none other than Jonah Hill to do that, as revealed in an interview with Collider:

We’ve been talking about it. You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow.

While Hart and Johnson have already starred in one big hit this year, Central Intelligence, proving their star pairing potential, it would certainly be interesting to see Johnson pairing up with Hill for this. And I’m interested to also see what direction this could take the film in. Both Hart and Hill are funny, though Hill tends to be a lot more brash and vulgar and that’s the type of comedy he generally does well on, so we could definitely see the film steer clear from being too family friendly and hitting into more R-rated territory if he does come on board. This is all only pure speculation at this point, as we don’t even have a script for the potential sequel yet.

And after being quizzed about the possibilities of this team up, the director went on to say:

Anything’s possible. We want to do it, it’s just hard to get everybody, you know. It’s on our minds. We actually wrote a script. But I want Jonah Hill, so reach out to Jonah. Pressure Jonah to do it. If Jonah Hill would do it, I’m in

In case you wondering what Johnson thinks of this whole thing, he is 100% on board with these plans. And even provided a potential title for the film as well – Hell Dorado:

I’m not really into Hollywood sequels and reboots at the moment and even less of some of Hill’s comedic efforts. But this could definitely be worth seeing. Would you pay to see Hill in The Rundown sequel?
