Project CARS lets you skip the grind

Project cars cockpit

I don’t generally like driving games. Sometimes they’re beautiful, and they might add some cool elements, but they just don’t grab me. My worst part is that before I can even play the game, I need to prove that I know how to drive a virtual crappy car so that I can get the cars I actually want to drive. Project CARS gives you everything you want, even in career mode.

Here is the Project CARS video showing off the Career Mode:

And here’s a non-YouTube link for those who need it.

I really like this approach to the career mode. If all you want is the vroom vroom of GT, you can skip straight to that. If, however, you actually like working your way up through the ranks, there’s a special achievement just for you. It allows for a much broader range of play styles – not everyone wants to play the same kind of racing modes and this feature will let players get their favorite vroom vroom action without the usual driving grind.

Project CARS is shaping up to the be the best driving experience that you can get. By including solo gameplay, as well as social or competitive elements, people can enjoy the thrill of the open road all on their own, or with friends. Sounds like what DriveClub was supposed to be but never was.

Is this your kind of game? Are you anxiously awaiting launch day, or is it all just vroom vroom to you?

Extremely excited for the game. Just wish there were more road cars, but nevertheless it looks like the whole package will be amazing!

Anxiously awaiting launch day? Check! Can’t wait for this – been following its development closely since they looked for funding on Kickstarter… Man it’s got so much potential! If they can deliver on their promises, then Forza and Gran Turismo will have a new competitor! And more competition in the genre is great news for racing game fans.

if you liked grid autosport, you’ll probably like this
if you liked NFS underground, you’ll probably like this, but not finish it.

grid 1 and 2 were more comparable to nfs.
grid autosport is more comparable to Gran turismo etc.

Those F1 games 🙁 The screen shots look fantastic but when 2inches at 200km makes all the difference in rounding perfect corners, the dip to 25fps sucked balls.

still have the same concerns as i did with grid autosport.
it just looks so boring. its a racing sim, not a driving sim.
everything is too clinical, all on race tracks, there is one way to drive and thats it.

      theres just no character.

Not at all. There are point to point races as well, and the AI is nothing like that of Gran Turismo. It really is nail biting stuff.

PS: Usually racing takes place on racing tracks 😉

NFS doesnt know what a race track is, yet people still mention underground and the original most wanted when they talk about their favorite racing games.
forza horizon is open world and also magnificent.

“No character” “Only one way to drive”.
        Newsflash.
        That’s how racing lines work.

i meant character as in car character, car customisation, game character, something in the game thats compelling besides the game mechanics.

and yes, racing lines are fine, but sometimes i dont feel like dropping to 60 so I can make a racing line, sometimes i want to bash the handbrake round a corner and play like a filthy casual.

Im talking about getting the balance bewteen a sim and arcade like forza has.
which is what i expected from this with the early trailers.

Well you should be happy then that Slightly Mad stabbed its supporters in the back in the last few months by changing the game exactly to that. Cars are way too twitchy and feel like they’re sliding on soap. So basically the people who funded the game aren’t getting the product they were promised, which was a sim rivaling rFactor and Assetto Corsa.
Now it’s just NFS: Shift 3.

i agree, theres no character left in these games, nothing that makes it fun
its either a NFS cookie cutter game or legit racing sim.
grid autosport was a really good game, but there was just… nothing…
driveclubs the same, and its nowhere near as pretty as i expected.

i love driving, but i dont necessarilly love track racing.

Lets see if they keep their promise of 60fps. All driving games should be in 60fps. Dammmmm flinging a Zonda around Nurburgring at 60fps in Forza is spell bounding.

choosing where you start merely changes where you start.
        its still the same game.
and tbh, the karting is the only thing that really makes this any different.

They lack various official licences, especially for track names. Codemasters has the exclusive licence for F1 currently, therefore F A.

    Puh-lease.
If you only knew what they did to the physics in the past few months..
They promised us a hardcore sim rivaling Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2.
What we’re getting is Need for Speed: Shift 3.
I called this on the day they said it was going to be released on consoles. I called it.
