Kotaku say that their sources claim that the new HD Nintendo console codenamed “Project Cafe” will only carry 8GBs of flash storage even though they plan on releasing a console that will contend with, or possibly even surpass the abilities of Sony and Microsoft’s current toys.

How on earth are we going to get along with only 8GBs of space and wait until you hear about the apparent disc size.

According to the sources, the system will only carry 8GBs of flash memory, which obviously severely limits its abilities to offer certain services like full downloadable games, HD movie services and so on. It will be enough to cater to smaller downloadable titles, but with some of the larger ones as well as DLC and so on, it will become a problem very quickly. Apparently the system will support SD cards, so that may be the answer that we are looking for but it is, of course, all rumor and speculation until we have something solid from Nintendo themselves.

The sources also say that ‘Project Cafe’ will use discs that will be able to hold 25GBs of space, which sits in the middle between the larger amounts of Blu-ray discs and the measly amounts held by DVDs.

Again, we have to wait and see what’s in store for us when Nintendo give the official details. For now though, we can always do what we do best, and it involves ranting, raving, speculating and all that jazz using the comments section below.

So tell us, do you think that Nintendo are going to stick with their old formulas or will this console finally be the one to bring them up to speed as far as online services, video and more are concerned?
