We’ve seen a lot of the Flash in recent weeks, with trailers focusing on his powers and villains. But one thing that we haven’t seen much of, is that despite the fact that the Flash looks like a fun show, it involves a hero with a tragic backstory, much like Batman in a way. The latest trailer does indeed focus on that, so consider yourself warned because the Flash might be running around you and peeling onions when you watch it.

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become …The Flash.

If you’re wondering what is happening there…then I’m not going to spoil it for you. Nope. What I will say is that Barry’s entire origin is tied to that bolt of lightning which hits him in the chest and gives the police scientist a dose of super-speed, with his emergence as a hero resulting in ramifications that lead all the way back to his childhood.

The show stars Grant GustinDanielle PanabakerCarlos ValdesJesse L. MartinCandice PattonTom CavanaghRick Cosnett, and John Wesley Shipp with Robbie AmellWentworth Miller, and Clancy Brown slated as guest stars.  The Flash premieres on on October 7th.

  1. I’m looking forward to this. I don’t mind reading spoilerish stuff because I’ll forget most of it 5 seconds later, but I’ve made a point of not watching anything so I can be pleasantly surprised when I do eventually see it.
