The Oscar nominated Bridesmaids destroyed box-offices, showed that R-rated female led movies could actually be successful and catapulted some of its stars into household name status. So it’s only natural that director Paul Feig would try to capture that estrogen-lightning in a bottle one more time.
But after seeing the first trailer for The Heat – which reteams Feig with Melissa McCarth, easily the biggest breakout Bridesmaid, and adds in American sweetheart Sandra Bullock – it didn’t look like it would quite live up to that promise. But now they’re back with a second trailer, hoping to make it all better with some naughty words.
Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies. From Paul Feig, the director of “Bridesmaids.”
Yeah, I’m sorry but the usually sweet Sandra Bullock just dropping a couple F-bombs is not enough to elevate this above “potentially mildly amusing”. I’ve never quite drank the Melissa McCarthy kool-aid like some have, and this does not appear to be changing my mind any time soon.

I’m keen to see this. It looks like the buddy cop movie that Hollywood has failed to produce for a long time now.
