The blockbuster avalanche started by Jurassic World may have hit a small bump with the new Terminator. But those yellow guys just brought it back on track.

No points for guessing that Minions, the Despicable Me spin-off, has debuted at the top spot, pushing everything else down a notch.

Holding onto its particular station, Terminator: Genisys manages to remain a contender, ceding its top spot to Minions, but still staying up there at number two.

Jurassic World drops to third, so it is also holding onto its part of the perch. But that this hasn’t swapped places with the divisive Terminator movie is interesting. Are audiences feeling fatigued of it already?

Disaster movie San Andreas actually bucks the trend, moving up one spot. Last week it dropped three spots, so it’s a bit of a comeback.

Pixar’s Inside Out, though, unexpectedly dropped two spots. It may be losing traction, but still did well and is Pixar’s fourth biggest earner yet.

At number six is Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the Channing Tatum megahit. Here it dropped only one spot, but overall the movie has barely made more than a third of the original.

At seventh is another under-performing sequel, Ted 2. It also scraped in barely a third of its predecessor.

Number eight is the current home of Spy, a spot it now held for two weeks. The movie was a qualified hit, so its slow amble to the exit is typical.

Hollywood in My Huis has stayed in the charts for a third week, which is a fairly good run for a charting local film. But at nine this is likely its last appearance here.

The tenth spot is a regular place for new, smaller movies to briefly appear – probably as audiences try out anything new with something to it. Life Of Crime is this week’s flavour: a crime caper starring Jennifer Aniston and some other people.

Leaving the chart this week are Wild Card and former chart dominator Pitch Perfect 2. The top earning movie on the charts is Jurassic World with R35 million.
