We need to talk about Ice Age. This has gone on long enough.

I realise that it’s a way to keep Ray Romano employed and stop Denis Leary from channelling Bill Hicks, but the world is also being robbed of John Leguizamo’s talents. These tidbits in American Ultra and John Wick are not satiating me.

But here we go: another Ice Age movie, cruising straight into number one. Well, if it ain’t broke…

The Big Friendly Tumble

The arrival of the Pleistocene Epoch means some incumbents are pushed down, but they don’t look too worse for it. Not the same can be said for last week’s debut, BFG, which fell three positions to the poor side of the chart. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 also dropped a spot, adding drag to its so-so debut.

Independence Day 2 also fell two spots, another underwhelming performer, while Now you See Me 2 is also quickly outstaying its welcome. The Conjuring 2 is doing better – it also lost two positions, but has enjoyed a healthier run than most of its chart peers.

For the Emilia Clarke fans…

You love the Khaleesi, a popular character on Game of Thrones, but you wish she was better known for her quirky side and not nude shots. Well, the new film Me Before You is exactly what you want. Emilia Clarke stars as a ditzy caretaker to a grouchy disabled man in this heartwarming British comedy. If you like the trailer, you’ll probably like the movie. Many do, as it debuts in fourth – unusually high for such a genre.

Also new to the chart, but right into the dead zone of tenth is Mr. Right, a wacky rom com about an assassin who has found his morals and the woman who he just started dating.

Goodbye Games

They are gone – Angry Birds leaves the charts after a good run and Warcraft does the same, only without doing as well. Finally, a warm farewell to the local film. Mrs. Right Guy, which did incredibly well. SA films are surging!
