Say what?! Is Justin Bieber up for the role of Robin or is this just a joke?

When it was announced that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in Zack Snyder’s still untitled Batman vs Superman sequel to Man of Steel, some fans were – I believe this is the technical term – die moer in. If that announcement nearly broke the internet in half, then for this next story, if it turns out to be true, I’m expecting looting in the streets and maybe a thermonuclear device or two. The story being that Darryn’s idol, Justin Bieber, is auditioning for the role of Batman’s sidekick, Robin.

On Friday night, the Biebster set the internet aflame when he posted the following pic to his Instagram account, showing himself holding up what appears to be a script for the film with the pic captioned #Robin??

Now, before this goes any further, let me just straight up call the shit of the bull on this one. Especially in the light of two things: 1) Bieber had tweeted just before this that he was off to shot a video for parody site Funny or Die and the pop star being cast as Robin is exactly the type of thing they would make fun of, and 2) Warner Bros, Zack Snyder, David Goyer and Christopher Nolan all appear to actually still be in possession of their mental faculties. Besides for the fact that I really don’t think that Robin would work in this world (not yet, at least), Bieber’s only other real acting gig, a two-episode stint on CSI: Miami back in 2011, showed him to be an okay-ish actor at best.

But let us assume, just for a moment, that the movie gods actually do hate us and that this is real, then this pic actually reveals something rather interesting. If you get real close to your screen and squint just a bit, you can just about make out the script’s placeholder title “Based on Batman: The Dark Knight Falls by Frank Miller and Klaus Jansen”. That’s the title of the fourth chapter in Miller’s acclaimed graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns, which was previously said to merely be a spiritual inspiration instead of an actual narrative one. By the sounds of that title though, that may not be the case anymore.

That is of course assuming that this rather unlikely story turns out to be true. And well, you have to admit that Miss Bieber has an uncanny resemblance to Carrie Kelly, the Robin in TDKR.
