Say hello to our new robot overlords! Actually, on second thought, ditch the pleasantries and rather get the hell out of Dodge because they look pissed, and they have same high calibre weaponry to help them take out their anger. Thanks a lot, Anthony Hopkins! This is totally all your fault!

I am of course referring to the events at end of the first season of Westworld, HBO’s stellar reimagining of Michael Crichton’s 70s movie about a futuristic amusement park populated by advanced androids built to mimic humanity as they provided all kinds of carnal and adventurous pleasures for their actual human visitors. That is until the robots started becoming aware of what they are and evolve into something greater, looking for some revenge. This new version of that tale, created by the husband and wife duo of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, took that concept though and ran way, way deeper with than Crichton ever imagined. The result was one of the best TV series in ages as we witnessed Evan Rachel Wood’s country gal Dolores go through an awakening of consciousness across two separate timelines. This new version of that tale, created by the husband and wife duo of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, took that concept though and ran way, way deeper with it than Crichton ever imagined. The result was one of the best TV series in ages as we witnessed Evan Rachel Wood’s country gal Dolores go through an awakening of consciousness across two separate timelines. But with her creator – the aforementioned Hopkins’ Robert Ford – opening up the self-aware floodgates for all robots in Westworld in the show’s first season finale, things looked they were about to get bloody. And boy, oh boy did they ever!

Westworld held its Comic-Con panel last night and fans in attendance got a massive surprise as the first, bloody, corpse-strewn trailer was revealed. This was incredibly unexpected as the cast and crew had merely been working on the show’s sophomore season for a week now, but apparently those seven days were enough to produce the footage below. Said footage also includes James Marsden’s Teddy as he joins Dolores to mow down human guests from horseback, Geoffrey Wright’s Bernard trying to get out of the path of destruction, Thandie Newton’s Maeve walking through some serious slaughter and Ed Harris Man In Black clearly having had a really bad day.

Westworld season two currently has no exact release data other than just 2018. As was previously reported, the new season is going to be even more complex and intricate than the 22-time Emmy nominated first season.
