Here at Themovies.co.za we all pretty much agree that the re-imagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s titular detective Sherlock Holmes in the series Sherlock is pretty damn awesome. I’ve played quite the promo part in getting almost all my family – and let’s be honest, that’s rather extensive – and many of my friends to jump on board the show. So I am delighted to be able to say that it will be back, on January first, when the majority of the world is suffering some form of hangover!
I really don’t care of course. Hangover be damned, I’ll watch it twice I say! The episode is called The Six Thatchers and is set to see the return of Sherlock’s ultimate nemesis, Moriarty. We will also see a new villain in the form of Toby Jones from Wayward Pines, that is indeed a little wayward, wouldn’t you say? Sadly this may be the last season! Damn you BBC!
In an interview with GQ the now-superstar that had his career launched by portraying the brilliant sleuth said:
It feels like the end of an era, to be honest.
Surely not Benedict Cumberbatch! Say it ain’t so! Well he went on to add, much to our dismay that the season:
Goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately.
Well I am going to take that with a pinch of salt. Firstly the formula of Sherlock has always been ‘make awesome season then watch as the main actors go make huge movies for a few years before returning’. I choose to believe that is what he means when he say ‘follow on immediately!
Watson (Martin Freeman) will be joining Cumberbatch along with Mycroft (Mark Gattis) and a few other favourites I won’t spoil here!
Anyway, at least we can see the New Year’s in with some fantastic television from the the BBC (as usual) and that is enough reason to cheers! Here’s the trailer to get you ready!
