Tom Holland made quite the splash when he debuted as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. As the first official appearance of Spidey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was a lot riding on Holland’s shoulders, but he knocked it out of the park. Acting next to some serious MCU heavyweights, Holland seemed to just slide into the role with ease, as if he’s been there all along.

But as Holland revealed in an interview with Variety though, sliding into the role may have been easy, but the figure-hugging costume was a whole other story.

“The suit’s not the greatest thing, but sometimes when it’s uncomfortable, you just have to remind yourself of the long list of actors that would love to be in that suit and you just go, ‘do you know what, f**k it. I’m the luckiest kid alive. I deserve to be here and I’m going to give it my best.’”

Ever since landing the role of Spider-Man, Holland has had a great presence on social media posting all kinds of cool videos showing off his natural athleticism and gymnastic skills. But just because he was flipping all over the place on set, doesn’t mean that he’ll be doing all the actual Spidery physical feats on-screen in the movie.

“I did as many [of the stunts] as I could, but there are some things legally that I couldn’t do. There were stunt doubles who were all very, very talented guys who really supported me throughout the process. Whenever there was a stunt that I didn’t necessarily feel comfortable about, they would step in and show my how to do it, and coach me through the process.”

During Holland’s debut in Civil War, he obviously got to share the screen with most of the Avengers, but technically he still hasn’t joined the team officially in an Avengers movie. Will we see that happening in the massive upcoming Avengers: Infinity War? Maybe.

“It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

With Holland’s Spider-Man already being as well received as it’s been, you have to think that the chances of him popping up in what will be Marvel’s biggest movie to date are pretty high. Even if it’s just to taunt Thanos about his fancy glove.
