Guardians-2-1

The sequel to the best sci-fi movie to ever feature a combination of an angry choked smurf with a cosmic hammer and some sweet groovy tunes may be an entire nine months away, but hype waits for no schedule. So sayeth the Star Lord himself (WHO?) Chris Pratt, as he told the Toronto Sun via ComingSoon that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be bigger than your dad’s lies about that one time when he caught a fish this massive:

It’s a fabulous script. I think it’s going to be – I’m not using hyperbole, here – I think it’s going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time.

One thing that Guardians of the Galaxy does have going for it, is that it isn’t exactly a conventional superhero movie. According to Pratt, that difference is a strength in an ocean of annual tentpole films that have come to rely on the genre lately. “To be part of Guardians of the Galaxy, is to be part of a franchise that really is so totally different,” Pratt said.

It’s new and exciting and unlike anything people had seen before. There are a lot of superheroes out there, but I think we do something a little different. The genesis of these characters was in the Marvel Universe but we do something a little different, more cosmic, with Guardians of the Galaxy.

But will it feature a proper dance-off rematch this time as Star Lord schools the remaining atoms of Ronan the Accuser in glorious and awesomely mixed battle? That’s the question that I want answered. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone apparently.

It’ll be attempting to understand metaphors on May 5.
