SC2

This is pretty much a no brainer but Blizzard has announced that StarCraft has instantly become the fastest selling strategy game of all time and the best selling PC game of 2010 in less than 24 hours.

According to Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, they launched StarCraft 2 in 11 different languages and over 5 continents on the same day to ensure as many players as possible could get their hands on the game at launch.

I also think they did it to be able to boast about being the best selling PC Game and fastest selling strategy game of all time as well but there’s nothing wrong with that.

The figures themselves appear to be a little smaller than I thought though with Mike stating that over 1.5 million units were sold in the first 2 days which while being a lot is lower than I personally expected.

Then again a title like StarCraft has already proven itself to have an exceptionally long tail and I suspect that SC2 is going to be adding huge profits to the Blizzard balance sheet for years to come.

The funny thing is, is that they still have 2 more games to release! Wings of Liberty is only part 1 of a three part trilogy.

The good news though is that Blizzard said that within a year of SC2 they would release Diablo 3.

It seems regardless of Bobby being at the helm, and being universally hated by EVERYONE? (including his own pet cat, General Hacksaw), Bobby and Activision Blizzard are riding on cloud nine. Starcraft 2 has taken the world by storm, as did COD Modern Warfare 2, and let’s not even mention that the much hated and overpriced Call Of Duty Map packs were downloaded Over 20 Million Times http://bit.ly/btHvy1

So who’s truly ruining gaming? Bobby K? Lol!
