SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer teases about the mystery villain and his henchman

suicide squad

In a movie filled with bad guys who are supposed to be the good guys, talk of a key villain in the film seems superfluous when the whole main cast is practically full of them. And that’s what makes Suicide Squad such a unique concept, in that you are left rooting for the bad guys, no matter which side you are choosing to support. One of the big questions about the film has always been about who the key villain/s will be that will justify bringing such a group of dangerous bad guys together to fight them. And how bad do they have to be that even these guys get put off by them?

Suicide-Squad-adversary

While Warner Bros continue to keep things quiet on this front in not wanting to reveal too much about the storyline, David Ayer, the film’s director/writer has revealed a little bit about the henchmen of the film – which can be briefly seen in the trailer (as pictured above). In Speaking to Total Film he mentions that the henchmen are called “The Eyes of the Adversary.” At least that is what he calls them – unless that is the official title for them from the comics. My DC Comic knowledge is rather rusty (i.e. non-existent), so I’m going to have to go with whatever he says.

And although they look dangerous, that doesn’t always mean they will be – though Ayer is adamant that “nobody’s safe” when these guys are around. One can only assume that the main villain must be even more dangerous then. Producer Charles Roven in the same conversation also doesn’t offer too much about the details of the lead villain, but did have this to say in the same article:

Let’s just say, when they’re called in to do this mission by Amanda [Waller], these are one of the things they encounter. They don’t know how they got here, but they’re weird and dangerous and yet they’re wearing military uniforms.

All these details might not help much in unlocking the secrets of who the villain could be, but thankfully we don’t have to wait too much longer with the film set for release on August 5th of this year.

Who do you think will be the big villain that gets the Suicide Squad united?
