Take a better peek at Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel in THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

We’ve already seen a pic of Evangeline Lilly’s Tauriel, but one that was kinda…stock standard. No, when it comes to Lord of the Rings, Hobbitses and der precious, we need something more dynamic. Well gents, your prayers have just been answered because here’s a pic of the brand new character, in a proper action-pose.

Also, hurry up, because Disney is going to sue the Brave out of that pic when they get wind of it.

Speaking to EW, Lilly described her character, and how she was kind of at the bootom of the Elvish pecking order. “Tauriel is the head of the Elven Guard,” Lilly said. “She’s a Sylvan Elf, which means she’s of a much lower order than the elves we all became acquainted with in The Lord of the Rings. She doesn’t hold the same kind of status that Arwen or Galadriel or Elrond or Legolas do — she’s much more lowly. She sort of goes against the social order of the elves a little bit.”

As for whether or not the addition of Tauriel would bring some romance to the otherwise massive sausage fest that the first film was, Lilly wasn’t too shy to let slip a few details:

She will definitely have a love story. I can’t give away too much about it. It’s not a huge focus but it is there and it is important and it does drive Tauriel and her story and her actions.

So will that true love have something to do with Orlando Bloom’s Legolas? Probably:

Tauriel’s relationship with Legolas is significant. They’ve known each other since they were children, and Legolas’ dad, [Elven king] Thrandruil, has a soft spot for Tauriel and sees something very special in her. So if you grow up side by side, and your dad has a very special spot in his heart for this young woman who’s a fantastic warrior, I think it’s hard not to notice her. That’s probably as much as I can say.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug journeys onward to a December 17 release date.

Please forgive, Darryn. He’s only recently graduated from using crayons.

Er… Excuse me, waiter? Yes, there seems to be a Robin Hood in my Lord of the Rings.
