As far as action heroes go, biblical characters are hardly John McClane or even Turner and Hooch. Sure, you’ve got King David and Solomon, but all those other heroes are all about the parables and stuff. With Russell Crowe taking on the role of Noah though, we’re getting a different version of the character, that takes advantage of all that Australian aggression.
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.
Crowe is the ark body builder on a mission to save the animal kingdom in a landscape that has been ruined by humanity, joined by Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and the rest of his offspring as the Roland Emmerich in the sky tells him to get busy buildin’ or get busy dyin’ with everyone else. Ray Winstone looks like he might steal the show here, as the ruthless antagonist to Noah, and there’s a hint of that supernatural action that director Darren Aronofsky has been promising for his film.
It looks promising, and it’ll be out next year March 28.

This doesn’t look bad. I wasn’t particularly interested in this to start with, but the trailer is actually pretty cool.

The trailer doesn’t show any of the big creatures from the comic. I was looking forward to that. Your opening sentence, however, shows that you don’t know all of the Bible. There are some pretty epic stories I’m convinced will need at least an 18 age restriction to be done right.

I was also looking out for the more fantastical creatures. They are supposedly in the movie, as Aronofsky was talking about them not too long ago, but I guess they just didn’t make the cut for the trailer. We do get a brief glimpse at one of the fallen angels though.
As for your other point, the Bible definitely has some epic stories. Mel Gibson was working on a Maccabee epic for a while, before he lost the plot completely.
