Civil War (1)

Oh my stars and stripes! Flying in out of nowhere like a tossed shield, the first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers 2.1 Captain America: Civil War has just popped up online a few minutes ago! And I’m not going to keep you here with my jabbering any longer, because I know you just want to get to that sweet hero vs hero action!

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

HOLY SHIIIIEEEEEET! Black Panther! Falcon’s red wings! Cap and Bucky double teaming Iron Man! There’s just way too much awesomeness in that trailer to be contained by one post, so you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for our detailed trailer breakdown.

I will make one observation though: Our theories were correct, and it’s not a massive unlicensed superhero tragedy like in the comics that causes this “Civil War”, but rather Cap’s desire to help Bucky while Tony wants to bring him in. It’s a smaller scaled affair, but its more than likely going to lead much bigger ramifications down the line in the MCU.

And if you need another hit of that superhero high, you can also take a look at the three new posters that were also released with the trailer.

Damn, those are some good looking posters! This just keeps getting better! And we haven’t even seen all the heroes – and there are a hell of a lot of them! – that’s in this movie, including Tom Holland making his debut as the new Spider-Man. Joining Holland and the main trinity of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Sebastian Stan as Captain America, Iron Man and Bucky respectively are Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.

Captain America: Civil War is once again directed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s Joe and Anthony Russo, while screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are also returning. It is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016!
