Everyone’s got their preferences when it comes to the endless DC vs Marvel battle, be it over characters, comics, shared movie universes or their related/not related TV series; but in one area DC is the undisputed king – animated features. Stylish animation, stellar voice casts, stories heavily influenced by the source material and a generally adult tone, while still remaining child-friendly, have made them a decided hit with superhero fans of all ages.

Batman: Bad Blood is the upcoming, and 25th (25th!), DCU animated original feature that follows on from Batman vs. Robin (released earlier this year), and the official plot synopsis is as follows:

Bruce Wayne [Jason O’Mara] is missing. Alfred [James Garrett] covers for him while Nightwing [Sean Maher] and Robin [Stuart Allan] patrol Gotham City in his stead. And a new player, Batwoman [Yvonne Strahovski], investigates Batman’s [Darryn] disappearance.

All-in-all this looks like yet another solid DC animated original feature. If you’re a fan of the genre and you’ve never seen one of these before, check it out because you’re in for a treat. Plus Batman, Nightwing, Robin, Batwoman (finally) and Batwing all in one feature – sold!

Batman: Bad Blood is due for release in January 2016 and is directed by Jay Olivia (who directed the preceding Batman vs. Robin among other DCU animated movies), with the story by veteran DC writer J.M. DeMatteis. It features a voice cast of Jason O’Mara, Stuart Allan, Sean Maher, Yvonne Strahovski, James Garrett, Morena Baccarin, Ernie Hudson and Gaius Charles.
