Jay-Garrick-Flash

It is a good time to be a fan of very specific TV shows right now. In less than two weeks, a certain Time Lord returns, and two weeks later, so does a scarlet speedster.

The Flash ended on a hell of a cliffhanger, one that also teased the future of the series and of things to come. And with season 2 racing into view, it looks like Barry won’t be the only speedster around, as this brief but action-packed teaser reveals:

It’s only half a minute, but there’s a lot to digest there. For starters, we’ve got our first look at Teddy Sears’ Jay Garrick, the Flash of his home dimension who has arrived to deliver a dire warning. With the wormhole open, it looks like Central City will see more metahuman menaces, that include Adam “Edge” Copeland’s Atom Smasher.

In the comics, Garrick may not be as fast as Barry, but he is an older and wiser Flash that serves as a fountain of knowledge for all speedsters. It’s a new season with new threats, but the return of an old face. As Dr Harrison Wells, Tom Kavanagh was a great mentor to Barry, until a certain twist was revealed. Now, the good doctor will return, as executive producer Gabrielle Stanton offered a new clue about where he’ll come from:

“Harrison Wells will be back, but he’s going to be a very different Harrison Wells than we’ve seen before,” Stanton tells TVLine. “We’ve got other worlds. We’ve got other timelines. All I’m going to say is he’s from one of those places.”

Alternate dimension Harrison Wells? Maybe this time, we’ll get the version that torments JD from Scrubs the whole time. Season 2 kicks off in October. And dammit, I can’t wait.
