Yes, I know that just the mention of screenwriter Damon Lindelof’s name is enough to send some of you running back to your therapist’ couch to try and work through the anger issues you felt about the Lost finale all over again, but I can’t help but be excited for Tomorrowland. The reason for my ebullience is Lindelof’s partner in this latest Disney blockbuster: Brad Bird. You may remember Bird as the totally awesome director/writer behind such animated movies as  Ratatouile,The Iron Giant and The Incredibles. And oh yeah, that other blockbusting movie you may have heard of: Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

M:I 4 was Bird’s live action debut and he proved there without a doubt that he can definitely jump from CG animated modern-day classics to effects heavy action adventures. And now he’s taken that progression one step further with Tomorrowland, a totally – and literally – out of this world looking sci-fi action adventure that looks like every imagination-filled 1950’s pulp science-fiction book cover brought to life.

We’ve already had one teaser trailer for the movie that introduced the movie’s zany hijinks, but with Lindelof subscribing to JJ Abrams’ “mystery box” methodology – quite literally in some ways – it means that plot details were pretty scant. But now a new trailer has been released, and not only is it big on revealing more about this fantastical world in which George Clooney and that girl from Under The Dome try to defeat?/reconcile?/give hug to? Dr. House in a marching band jacket, but it is also heavy on the crazy action. Action that includes everything from giant rock ’em sock ’em styled robots to escaping death in a bathtub (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull eat you refrigerated hearts out) and revealing that the Eiffel Tower is a secret rocket launch platform, as I suspected for years. Check it all out below!

Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Tomorrowland also stars Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson. It is scheduled for release on May 22, 2015.
