The game is always being played in this second red-band trailer for FILTH

Despite having been released in its native UK back in September  2013 already (where I’m guessing a new trend of raunchy photocopy machine pranks swiftly followed), the rest of the world is still waiting for James McAvoy’s Filth to show up on their screens. With an international release date swiftly approaching, a new, very NSFW red-band trailer has been released to remind us folks in the rest of the world, just what the British (don’t let those cultured cups of tea and cucumber sandwiches fool you) have been getting up to for the last few months without us.

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?

Filth, which is based on the acclaimed book by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, stars James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent and Eddie Marsan, and hits VOD on April 24, and limited international cinemas on May 30, 2014.

  1. it’s refreshing to see actors not afraid to “buck” the previous belief that if you’re playing a hero in some big budget movie, you can’t be seen playing an asshole or villain in another. James McAvoy has become another favourite of mine in a short space of time.

Saw this last month. Great movie and James McAvoy is sublime in the role as he is in pretty much everything he does.

I got through quite a few movies this weekend. Knights of Badassdom, Wolf of Wall Street, Don Jon & Snowpiercer, in order of enjoyment.

KoB – pretty disappointing, if you’ve seen the trailer you’ve seen the best bits. :/
WoWS – for a 3 hour movie I was not bored at any point – damn good.
Don Jon – really surprised me by how good it was, great character development.
Snowpiercer – something you have to stick with because it does seem to drag & I can see why old Harvey wanted to make some cuts, but when you get to the payoff…. WTF KABOOM MIND BLOWN!

I need to watch Snowpiecer, I looked for it on ‘netflix’ the other day but couldn’t find it. Watched first 4 eps of Vikings, damn amazing series. Sadly watched ‘Unstoppable’ which has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen (it was on eTV and I couldn’t be arsed to move). At least the Usual Suspect took the edge off.

Yeah, I couldn’t move, on account of twisting my bloody ankle on Saturday. Wasn’t even drunk when I did it. Miss stepped and crunched down with all my weight, something went POP. Ouch.

Eina 🙁 Funny how it never happens when we’re drunk. Suddenly everything turns to rubber & you just bounce off things.

Agreed. Damn bro, I wanted to shout the sky down. Flipping painful. So currently floating on meds, shouldn’t have come in to work.

Travis Fimmel is awesome in the lead role of Vikings. Just started Season 2 myself and it’s still good. Travis is also very good in The Baytown Outlaws, fun action flick with lots of arb charm.

Yeah, he is so damn intense Will keep an eye out for Baytown Outlaws. Just goes to show you you can have a show like this and not need sex and swearing every 3 minutes.

Finally watched Wolf of Wall Street last week and it was amazing. Had me laughing my ass off the whole way through and the performances, just WOW! I think Leo actually only lost because of the subject matter ie douchebag thief vs aids guy.
Saw Snowpiercer last night and enjoyed it. Agreed about the the payoff, never saw that shit coming and I always see everything coming.
