The thick plottens

Oh wait, I was supposed to write something here….Ennnhhh do it yourself, I’m busy.

Best Story

It isn’t exactly good news for the bigwigs over at Nintendo lately, who are taking a pay cut over the lacklustre performance of the Wii U console. But knowing that this company actually values their employees enough to keep them around and not fire them into the sun the second that things look bleak? Now that’s actually quite inspiring.

Worst Story

A big thanks to Gavin for making me realise that the only way that I can continue supporting my gaming habit thanks to rising costs and a bitch-slapped Rand, is to slaughter baby seals and pocket the extra income. In other depressing news, all the stars in the sky are already dead, just like my dreams.

Best ION Header

Shay-Maria

In the immortal words of Yakko and Wakko Warner, “HELLO SHAY MARIA!”.

Racism is pretty much the ugliest part of our history. And ignoring that it is still around, is one of the worst things that we can do. So Gavin pretty much opened up a massive can of worms this week, with the first article of Racism in the DOTA scene notching up 247 responses, but it was a follow-up piece a few days later which got folks talking to the tune of 294 comments.

Least Comments

The wolf is among is us folks. Except that only one person actually noticed that, with regards to Zoe’s article this week.

Batman Of The Week

Breadman

I was so damn close to at least having a tie between myself and Geoff this week, for Batman of January. But seeing as how several of my articles lost Steam, and everyone loves Geoff like an uncle that hands out action figures at Christmas, it was not to be. Sniff, I’ll be over there in the corner, while Geoff rubs his Batman in my face. It’s far worse than it sounds.

Header Image Of The Week

Im-gonna-be-in-Minecraft

I’ll be damned if I don’t take something away this week, and regarding the story about one man having walked many miles for years already in Minecraft, I whipped up the following image this week. And then I had that damn song stuck in my head for the next couple of days.

Comment Of The Week

Well done Hammersteyn, for tickling my funny bone (THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID) this week. Now, we get our usual glut of JIFs posted in the ION every week. Such as this one from Ottokie:

lort

But it was Hammersteyn’s keen Elvish eyes that observed the following, leading to him winning comment of the week:

I bet Nintendo is played by Boromir

Aye, you have my giggles.

I think he should push for opening credits like the good old days. That way we’d get that awkward stage out of the way and we could move straight to the death scene. 🙂

I can picture him saying this in response to that – “tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.”

I just got chills. That is my all time favourite movie quote, from a super under rated but excellent movie.

Why does the header image use an apostrophe for “can’t” but not “Im”? Be consistent, don’t mix & match, that’s irritating.

I luckily have all three as extended versions. They’re long. But if you watch them once every year or so they’re still so much fun.

So much better than the new ones coming out, at the very least.
