The second that Osama Bin Laden took a bullet to the skull, several Hollywood executives received a massive rush of blood to their genitals and said to themselves “We need to turn this into a movie”.
Kathryn Bigelow and Universal Studios have done just that, as their take on the Bin Laden raid, Zero Dark Thirty, is out in December. That’s a film with some top class actors and a decent budget behind it. Codename: Geronimo however, is none of that. But hey, it is out sooner, right?
Directed by John Stockwell, Codename: Geronimo features a who’s who is available of actors that no one knows or gives a damn about, except for William Fichtner, that is, who apparently needs some quick cash.
Grabbing bits from the upcoming Bigelow film, but on a $2 million budget instead, the only thing cheaper in this film is the sheer amount of stereotypes and clichés within it.
America? Check! Soldiers training to take down the most dangerous man in existence apparently? Check! Brothers in arms who will die to save one another or their nation? Check! Said soldiers talking to concerned loved ones and hugging their kids? Check! Middle Eastern terrorists! Check and check!
You could turn this into a drinking game if you wish. Have a shot every time you get that clichéd deja vu, or William Fichtner shows up. You’ll be catatonic by the second minute.

It gives me a Homeland vibe. I was expecting something worse… this might not be all that bad.
