The upcoming movie The Interview, produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, may just start the next world war. Yes the ‘ronery’ North Korea has lashed out at the comedy (staring Seth Rogen and James Franco as two celebrities recruited by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong-un) and threatened that “we will take a decisive and merciless countermeasure” if the movie is released. So we can only assume they will send us a COD clip of a nuke wiping America out. Further to this in their infinite wisdom they added that the movie was obviously “an act of war that we will never tolerate” and that  “the act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable”. If they think that about this lord knows what they thought of Team America: World Police (one of my favourite films). Seth Rogan laughed off the threat in a tweet saying “People don’t usually wanna kill me for one of my movies until after they’ve paid 12 bucks for it. Hiyooooo!!!”

It is interesting to see how America’s common enemy has moved from China, who is America’s biggest trading partner, to other countries. For example the 2012 movie Red Dawn had the Chinese invading but was changed in post production to the North Koreans. This was done so that censors didn’t ban the film in the very lucrative China (it has the second largest movie market after America) and so that bilateral ties were not strained between the two super powers.

Dave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapoport run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

The movie plans on releasing October 10, 2014, if we’re still all here.
