The legend returns in this first teaser for Star Trek: Picard

Star Trek: The Next Generation might have ended in 1994, but if you ask many Star Trek fans who their favourite Starfleet commander is across all the different Star Trek movies and series, Jean-Luc Picard is likely to be the common answer. Which is perhaps why there has been so much excitement around CBS’ upcoming new series which will once again see Patrick Stewart return to the iconic role that made him a household name.

Well, prepare for that excitement to boldly go wild once again because after getting drops of its logo and series title, we now also have a teaser trailer to whet your appetite, released on the 25th anniversary that the original series came to an end in the episode titled All Good Things.

It is a teaser, so I guess we couldn’t have expected much more from this trailer, though just it giving a glimpse of what Picard has been up to all these years since his younger days exploring new worlds is enough to give me goosebumps. As the trailer teases, he may have lost faith in himself and us, but it seems clear that the world has not lost faith in Picard.

According to TV Guide, Star Trek: Picard is set in the year 2399, which is 20 years after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation and remarkably it appears that Earth has somehow survived. I guess this is science fiction after all.

We don’t have a release date for the series just yet, which is scheduled to launch on Amazon Prime. My guess is that when it does launch, subscriptions for Amazon Prime are likely to go up as this is the kind of character and series that has the potential to bring rabid fans along with it.

Finally a series that has a chance to redeem the mistakes of the last two series.

I like FO 76 BECAUSE I knew it was not MEANT to be FO5.

Fatal mistake most people who hate it made.

Also it is already improved a ton.

Fallout at least never changed Power Armour to include a oil based teleportation system nor did it make super mutants an alien race. They stuck to the world constraints of that particular universe.

At the end it all changed ‘back’ and no one spoke of it, so the canon/continuation, is in tact.

Besides, its all just a story, and for me, it was a damn fine one.

Having to watch a terrible show for a payoff at the end is like watching 7 seasons of a great show only to get the worst and most disappointing 8th season.

I’ve watched all the Star Trek series, and I’ve found something to love in each one.

Did not really like Enterprise after season 1. Too much time travel. Hated Discovery after 6 episodes. TNG,DS9 and Voyager (well half of it) is the heart of ST for me. Not that ToS wasn’t good either.

Enterprise had a lot of time travel, yes, S4 was also a bit weak, yes, but it was a breath of fresh air in the ST universe
Disco was really an unique new take on it, and while there were some mediocre episodes, in total, it was a worth-while entertaining experience for us

Wouldn’t be a bad thing. Season 2 Improved it’s formula by miles and it is now my definitive ST alternative.

My definitive alternative is star trek. If I wanted more of TNG I’d just watch, you know, TNG and not a fanboy remaking it 😛

Yes but if someone asks me for something in tune to the spiritual message of star trek I would tell them to watch Orville.

The “All Good Things” episode was sublime. I still feel emotional when thinking about it, and I’m 110% sure I’ll shed a few tears if I watch it again today

This was my experience of the last ep ‘pulled from twitter’ So 25 years to the day I missed the airing of TNG’s ‘All good things’ on American television. I was in Florida with my family when a van pulled out in front of us in a storm. We went smash into the side of it and because of the ensuing accident missed the last ep of a show I’d followed for 7 years. A few days later I was getting off a ride in Disney and was mumbling about this experience when the ride helper (I have no idea what to call them) heard me and offered to bring a taped video to my hotel. Of course my mother was like.. Wtf… But after giving the name of our hotel (and not our room number) thought nothing of it. A few days later an NTSC video was left behind the reception of the last episode. Never got the chaps name

Yeah he really was man! He was a young dude, just one of the helpers that opens and closes the ride cage. I was. I think I was wearing a Trek top and he was like ‘nice’ and I was like, I missed the last ep because of a car accident. Then he offered to copy the tape he made and bring it to our hotel. After every amber alert was raised by my mother she said yes. Literally a day later the video was behind the country. I felt to bad because we thought he was talking shit and didn’t even leave some money for his petrol. Sadly I couldn’t watch it when I got home to the UK because they use PAL, so had to get it converted. That really make me think humans can be cool people, not like @hvr@disqus_9d4L7lqp4k:disqus who is BS!

We all know this is complete BS.

You are still too short for all the rides at Disney, no way you were tall enough 25 years ago.
