Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a stellar collection of games that defined the first-person shooter genre. It’s an essential bundle for any Xbox One owner, if you’re fine with the fact that you’ll probably never get a game online. The Master Chief Collection’s multiplayer has been completely broken since launch, but it could be fixed very soon.

As soon as Wednesday in fact, as 343 Industries has already completed a client patch and sent it through for certification. The patch takes aim at the multiplayer issues plaguing the game, which forced 343 to disable a number of rosters and modes in order to achieve some form of stability. Even those measures proved rather fruitless, but they expect the patch to be as effective as a Needler in a 1v1 fight.

The patch itself focuses on “Matchmaking performance, non-matchmaking bugs, and a variety of title-specific issues.” Last week 343 identified what was causing all of the online distress and has been incorporating it into this patch, which they hope will allow everyone to get in on that classic Halo multiplayer fun.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed though. Many reviews have reflected the game’s broken online component and warned potential buyers against a purchase. I personally haven’t had the chance to try hop online, but the drastic measures 343 went to in order to get some people online tells the full story.

I do hope that this Wednesday patch fixes all the major problems, because I do think this is an essential title for any Xbox One owner who has the slightest interest in the Halo Universe. That, and Halo 5 is still very far away, so this is a decent fix until then.

Is it just me, or has 2014 brought up more games needing important fixes than any other year?

This one wins the POTY award.
If I could download 20gig patches then I would be downloading games everyday.

What a joke this Industry has become. A fat Bloated Broken piece of unprofessional bollocks.

I have changed my mind. Games are not art.
