If you were reading yesterday, you’d have perused an article detailing how The Weinstein Company and Relativity Studios had finally brokered a deal to get out of court and back into producing a remake of cult classic film, The Crow.

It’s barely been days, and now, the film officially has a director and a writer that have been hired to work on the project. Development hell my cynical ass.

F. Javier Gutierrez will be helming the gestating reboot of the James O Barr created character, while Jesse Wigutow will be handling script duties. Guiterrez, whose previous credit include Spanish-language horror movie Before the Fall (Tres Dias), has been mentioned before for the film, but the aforementioned legal battles have kept any actual attempt to make the film a stalled process.

Wigutow has previously worked on Eragon, The Ruins and a recent rewrite of a remake, The Osterman Weekend.

Production will be handled Edward R. Pressman,Jeff Most and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Relativity’s Tooley (Immortals), TWC’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Farah Films’ Dan Farah will serve as executive producers.

Well, looks like another Hollywood classic film is on the butchers block. Brandon Lee must be spinning in his grave so hard right now, that he’s managed to exit earth orbit.
