If you happen to suffer from arachnophobia, then I would stay off the internet if I were you. No, people aren’t going to start linkbaiting you into pics of camel spiders again, but rather it seems that now that the webcrawler is officially out of the bag, Sony is wasting no time in ramping up the Amazing Spider-Man 2 marketing campaign. Just over a week since the first trailer hit in all it’s villainy glory, a new international trailer has also swing into town, this focusing less on the big bads, and more on Spidey’s often less mentioned super-power: Comedy.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

I have to admit, despite my few misgivings on the first film, the more I’m seeing of this sequel, the more I’m liking it. The quips and smaller character moments were by far the strongest aspect of the first film, and director Marc Webb definitely still appears to know what he’s doing when it comes to that the second time around.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field, and will be swinging into cinemas on May 2, 2014.

I loved the 1st movie, but I kinda lost interest ever since Andrew Garfield said that he wanted Mary Jane to be a man. Not because of homophobia or anything, just the fact that he showed that he doesn’t understand who Spide-Man is

Any version of Mary Jane that is nothing like Mary Jane is better than the current Mary Jane…

I was actually meaning 616 Mary Jane… or even worse Toby’s Mary Jane…

Garfield said afterwards that it was all just tongue-in-cheek conjecture on his part. He was just talking about why it shouldn’t be a big deal if a character as popular as Spider-Man were to be gay. He wasn’t asking for MJ to be a guy in the series, as that would make no sense now, he was just positing a what-if.
